Materials
Management can be defined as the process which ‘deals with the campus planning
and building design for the movement of materials, or with logistics that deal
with the tangible components of a supply chain’. The main goal is to provide an
unbroken chain of components that ensure production to manufacture of goods on
time for the customers. In simpler language, we can say that this branch
designs and plans for collection, storage, distribution and delivery of raw
materials and services. MBA in Material management is mostly needed during
building design project. The term ‘material’ refers to office supplies, mail,
food, building products, raw materials, wastes as well as services.
CAREER PROSPECTS:
As
material management is a very necessary management process, doing an MBA in
material management can open new horizons for any student. MBA in
material management is a promising career option in India. There is a large
number of job opportunities in both public and private sectors, accompanied by

Management of the purchasing processes and related aspects in an organization.
QUALITY
MANAGEMENT:
Managers have to provide assurance regarding good quality of materials and work
for achieving the same.
PACKAGING
INDUSTRY:
This deals with the preparing of goods for sale, transport, logistics, etc.
SHIPPING
INDUSTRY:
Shipping is a huge industry which is involved with transporting commodities by
sea.
FUTURE PROSPECTS:
Candidates
pursuing MBA in material management as a career have a bright future ahead.
Every organization depends on materials and services from other
organizations. Thus, efficient management of materials is very important
in any organization as it adds to the profitability of the organization. We can
thus conclude that this is an industry where demand of skilled managers will never

The Times
Group TNS had conducted a Survey on B-schools for the year 2013. It was held
from November 2012 till February 2013.Overall score is the weighted sum of
scores obtained in Factual as well as Perceptual surveys.
A factual
survey entails data that is submitted by B-schools on a variety of questions.
The questions are split up across five primary parameters – learning
experience, living experience, brand value, return on investment and future
orientation. A score of zero indicates that data was not submitted by the
college for that particular parameter.
A
perceptual survey is done on the B-schools that have participated in our
factual survey. There is a separate questionnaire for this which is
administered to a group of more than 1,200 stakeholders of the B-school
ecosystem, including teachers, students, young executives and HR recruiters.
